ithlete HRM
We are very happy to let you know that the new v1.2 of the HRM app is now available in the AppStore worldwide. ithlete HRM uses the same hardware as the ithlete HRV fatigue & recovery app, and allows you to monitor & record precise heart rate data during exercise. It includes Dr Phil Maffetone's '180 formula' for maximum development of your aerobic capacity & ability to utilize fat as fuel during exercise.
The new version is the product of a lot of work on refinement, based on users feedback, and provides an improved experience all round.
Changes & additions include:
- Ability to recall detailed heart-rate profiles for EVERY workout - not just the most recent one. You can select any saved workout by touching on its row in the Log screen. This will give you the option to display as a Chart, or export as a text hrm file:

- Enhanced data on the Chart, including workout date, duration and calories, and 5 min marks on the time axis for the first hour. The base level of the Chart is no longer fixed, but now reflects the Settings you have entered for Age and Fitness level. The TRIMP calculation takes both duration and intensity into account to create a research validated score that reflects the training load on your body. Higher TRIMP numbers are associated with increased need for recovery, and may lead to Amber Daily or Weekly Change indications in ithlete.

- the Email hrm file now contains more data on the workout including date, duration. It is compatible with more heart-rate analysis software, such as TrainingPeaks, ProTrainer 4 & 5 and GoldenCheetah, as well as popular location tracking apps such as RunKeeper
- All saved workout files can be accessed from iTunes when you sync your iPhone / iPod (under Device -> Apps, select HRM)
- All data on the Measure screen is reset immediately after you Save your workout, so the screen is clean ready for the next workout
- If your workout is interrupted by a phone call, and you accept the call, your workout will be saved automatically
On iPhone 3GS and 4, you can use the HRM app at the same time as GPS location tracking apps, either in the foreground or background. We suggest starting the HRM first, pushing the Home button to put it in the background, then starting the location tracking app. Heart rate zone sound alerts will be mixed with music, making for a sophisticated & enjoyable workout.
